He maintains a private practice focused in oral rehabilitation and implant dentistry in Hong Kong, is a Visiting Professor at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand and an affiliated researcher at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Sweden. He has held professorate academic positions in Sweden, Australia and Hong Kong. His research revolves around complications of implant therapy and peri-implantitis, bone regeneration, patient reported outcomes measures in implant therapy and educational development, in particular online teaching. Dr. Mattheos has received numerous awards, including the International Association of Dental Research researcher\u2019s award in 2003 and 2013 and the Andr\u00e9 Schroeder Research Prize in 2015 and 2021. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the ITI Academy and Associate Editor of the International Journal of Prosthodontics.
